The French painter, engraver, lithographer and illustrator, Ange-Louis Janet (1815–1872) studied under Ingres. He mainly painted hunting scenes and episodes from the Crimean war, Italian war and Mexican war. He exhibited in the Paris Salon from 1836 onwards. As well as illustrating several popular publications he is also known for his portraits of Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte.
