The original artwork has been secured to a board by tacks, or pins which appear as small dark circles in the upper corners. There are also faint traces of patterned wallpaper used to line the board to protect the original artwork, in an arrangement similar to Schaaf 456, and Schaaf 773. Talbot photographed the copy easel he lined with wallpaper and used to photographically reproduce lithographs, etchings and engravings.
