Talbot’s first paper on photography, “Some Account of the Art of Photogenic Drawing” was read to the Royal Society in London on 31 January 1839.  A short synopsis was then published in the ‘Proceedings of the Royal Society’, vol. 4, no. 36, 31 January 1839, pp. 120-21.

The printed page of text shown here, copied photographically by Talbot, bears the same title, but this particular page was taken from a later re-print of Talbot’s entire paper in the ‘Philosophical Magazine’, series 3, vol. XIV, March 1839, pp. 196-208.

An informative post by professor Larry Schaaf on Talbot’s paper, including a link to the entire original printed text, is available here.
