Bust of Minerva on a round tabletop

Keywords: Sculpture Goddess

Talbot knew or referred to this statuette as, 'Minerva'. However, there is a possibility that it is related to a Roman marble bust known as the, Athena Guistinian. The treatment of the hair is not exactly the same in both, and Talbot's statuette lacks some of the details found in the marble bust, such as the rams' heads that decorate the front of the Athena Giustiniani, but otherwise the two have some stylistic features in common.
