The handsome Neoclassical building in the photograph (built in the Greek Revival style) still survives and is now the the Yorkshire Museum, in York. At the time the photograph was taken it was the home of the Yorkshire Philosophical Society.  It is also famous as the birthplace of the British Association for the Advancement of Science (BAAS) which was founded in 1831.  This photograph was most likely taken during the 1844 meeting of the BAAS which Talbot and Calvert Jones both attended.
