Copy of a print of Edward VII, when Prince of Wales, from a painting by Franz Xaver Winterhalter

Keywords: Portrait

The copy is probably a lithographic engraving and is after an original oil painting of Albert Edward. Although Edward was Queen Victoria’s second child, as the eldest son he was the heir to the throne. The original oil painting, which dates from 1843 when Albert Edward was three years old, is held by the Royal Collections Trust (inventory number RCIN 401411). The engraving and Talbot’s photograph of it must have been made some time after.
